It was an absolute pleasure sitting down with Katja from https://livesnotlabels.com for a deep conversation about mental health, my diagnosis, the new album, and so much more.

Katja is doing incredible work creating a space filled with real, unfiltered stories from people living with mental health conditions. I am so grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a platform dedicated to giving voice to those with stigmatized conditions, challenging misconceptions and stereotypes, and fostering genuine understanding and empathy throughout the wider community.

Thank you so much Katja for taking the time to chat and have me be apart of your project.

Order 42 Interview / Hangout!

I’m thrilled to share that I was recently a guest on the Order 42 show! Tech, film, physical media, pop culture—Rob (The Game Chasers / Adventures in Game Chasing) has built an incredible channel and community, and I’m honored to be asked to be on the show. We chatted about films, the my new album, took some audience questions, and more. Giant thanks to Rob for having me on the show.

05.30.26 - Armadillo Music (Davis, CA)

When I first arrived in California, Armadillo Music was one of the first stages that welcomed me. It feels full-circle to be returning to this legendary Davis staple, this time with a brand-new album in hand! Funny enough I saw a few of my old stickers still hanging up. Great record shop in downtown Davis, CA.

05.23.2026 - Sofar Sounds | Smudge Nail Salon (Sacramento, CA)

Great turn out, great connection with people, good response, and more. It was a great night! Hope to do it again. If YOU were at this show, send me an email and make sure to tell Sofar you enjoyed the set.

04.16.2026 - Sweet Music Studio Cafe (Citrus Heights. CA)

Nice new cafe out in Citrus Heights, CA. Great coffee, nice vibes. Hope to come back and perform there again soon. Made some new friends, saw some old ones too. Great night!

The new album "Tell Me Something Great" features both full-band and acoustic versions of every track. Here is a snippet of the acoustic version of "Game’s Up" paired with this awesome animation thanks to  gravecircuit.  There’s a unique, raw energy in these acoustic takes that I’m really proud of. It’s been a blast seeing the songs evolve from a simple guitar arrangement to the full-band production.

03.31.26 - Kupros (Sacramento, CA) out

I’ve played at Kupro’s a few times over the past few years. Nice brew house. Always a very chill vibe. This evening I got to see an old friend I haven’t seen in sometime. Great evening.

FROM THE VAULT: Live at Goldfield Trading Post

I’m finally releasing the full set from my show opening for Joey Harkum at Goldfield Trading Post. This footage was originally just for super fans, but it felt like the right time to share it with everyone. I’ve always been a fan of Joey’s music, so sharing a bill with him was a true highlight for me. This performance also holds a lot of personal weight because it was the last time I took the stage before a two-year hiatus caused by recurring arm issues. After a long road of recovery and a lot of patience, I’m finally getting back to a place where I can perform again. Which is GREAT! Enjoy the video.

ZOMBIE MONKEY TSHIRT SALE!

I’ve got a sale running right now that I’m pretty pumped about. If you’ve been eyeing the White Zombie Monkey shirts, I’m doing a solid discount on Smalls and Mediums to get them to some new homes.

You can snag one from https://justinyates.bigcartel.com/product/zombie-monkey-shirt or just shoot me an email if you want the absolute best price (Justin@JustinYates.net)

03.20.2026 - Shady Coffee & Tea (Roseville, CA)

03.13.2026 - Two Rivers Cider Company (Sacramento, CA)

After some time off I’m finally getting back to performing. It has been a journey to get back on stage. I’m happy to be performing again and beyond thrilled to be playing these new tunes for people.

BOGO SALE!

I’m doing some organizing over here and realized I have a handful of Small and Medium 4-color monkey shirts available. I’d love to get these out to people who will actually wear them, so I’m doing a BOGO sale!

If you grab a “Tell Me Something Great” shirt in Small or Medium, I’m going to throw in a 4-color Monkey shirt (Small or Medium) for free.

I’m happy to let you mix and match them however you like—if you want two of the same design, or one of each in different sizes for yourself or a friend, that’s totally fine.

Once these are gone, I won’t be restocking the 4-color monkey shirts again, so scoop one up while you can. Supplies are pretty limited!
